John Carter: New Sneak Peek Spot

Following the mixed reaction to the Super Bowl spot, Disney has released a new 60 second preview of John Carter that first aired last night during the premiere of the TV series The River. You can check it out below. On the plus side we finally hear the word "Mars." On the down side...well just watch it. If you've followed this movie for any length of time you'll know what I'm talking about.

What do you mean? Do you think they're revealing too much? the marketing seems iffy..
also, the general reception seems lukewarm, at best. I think it will be a great film, love the talent involved, but I think it will only do Tron Legacy numbers.. which means no sequels, probably. Hope I'm wrong. My favorite tv spot is this one - love the editing. the teaser trailer was artful as well.

The "new" reveal for me was the line, "And Earth is next..." This tells me they have added a layer of plot involving a threat to Earth. That not from ERB and it doesn't bode well. I was feeling pretty good about most of the previews. Now I'm getting an uncomfortable Star Trek 2009 vibe.

All I need is a PR hack to tell me "This is not your father's John Carter...."

I hope I'm wrong. I really do want to like this film. You would think a simple ERB plot would be ideal for a Hollywood action movie.
