John Carter-Warlord of Mars Collection Coming


Well another trip to the comic book store. The site Comic Book Resources has listed John Carter of Mars: Warlord of Mars from Dark Horse Comics for release on March 2, 2011. This book according to the information provided will collect all 28 issues of the Marvel series and the three annuals. But unlike the recent Jesse Marsh book or the upcoming Weird Worlds collection the book will be in black and white with a cost of 29.99. This is great news! The only thing that would have made it better is if it was in color, and hard cover, and maybe more than one single giant volume. But other than that, this is great news!

By the way, I thought you might find this interesting. It is a very weird old news story from 1922 about a murder/suicide attempt that somehow involves one of the Barsoom novels:

I would have preferred the book in color too. Its strange that Dark Horse has reprinted the old Marvel Conan the Barbarian and Star Wars comics in color but not Warlord of Mars. I guess they wanted to save money.

As for the article my college journalism professor would have had a field day with that one. I couldn't figure out why the guy's mother being a member of an esperanto group had anything to do with this story, or if she was wearig her flaming undergarments or not. It's an interesting find though.
